Ok so I have a 1982 seca that uses the mono shock and the engine as part of the frame. I was looking at a 1978 parts bike, the question is can I take the 1982 engine and put it in the 1978 frame? Has anyone else done this?
It can be done if you have the vision and proper tools to do it.Its not a direct bolt in but Im sure with fram mods ,welding, torch and grinder it can be done.I know somebody on here took a maxium engine and put it in a Honda frame.
anything can be done with the right welder, torch, grinder and most of all the right mechanic. But honestly, you'd be better off looking for a seca or maxim parts bike as it will involve quite some modifications to mount, not to mention the 78 frame will be built for a lower-HP engine so it may have to be reinforced to take the stress.
Hey Cyrizdark....
I put an '82 seca in a hardtailed Honda Nighthawk frame....it's tight, and involves some 'headscratching',but as Scorpio days, anything's possible
Check my album out for some pics.....and good luck!!!!
