Really hard to get going

So it´s been running fine for a month but then suddenly became harder and harder to start when it´s cold or been sitting overnight. Now it is impossible to start.
I have to roll it and engage second and it starts right away. No problem when the engine is warm either.

Could it be the valves or just a carb cleaning?

Sounds like valves to me - when was the last time you checked your clearances?

Probably a year ago. Do you think it could be the battery? But on the other hand it should start on the kick...

Trickle charge the battery and then try it. If your problem is solved, then yes, it's the battery.

When you say that it's hard to start, I imagine it turning and turning but not catching...

Yup, it turns and turns, an occasional sputter and dies again.
Gonna check the valves today and clean the carbs.
