Running into a problem mounting my custom speedometer...help?

Trying to mount a custom single speedo on my 83 maxim 400, but the speedo cable wont clear the headlight bezel or key switch. Was thinking of getting a 90 degree cable adapter, which looks expensive according to ebay... wondering if anyone has ever gone this route? Looking for any tips or ideas. Thanks in advance guys.

You've got options!
Relocate the ignition switch (and loose the steering lock)
Relocate the headlight lower
Route the speedo cable through the headlight bucket (drill carefully and use grommets)
Mount the speedo off center
Buy the expensive adapter

Isn't customizing a bike a great learning experience?
