What did you do with your XS today?

:thumbsup:I made some tapered carb gaskets from cork,to pitch my carbs over slightly,so they clear the frame backbone(it's all packed in tight!)....cut and fit a battery tray and started making a battery box from an old tin and some louverred panels i picked up in a DIY store

Not sure about the tilting of the carbs as it might affect the fuel level in the bowls.

Put of some new old stock k&n air filters from 1981 they where made just for the xs360-400, just need to oil them. Also did a little more painting ( speedo cover, valve covers and rear inner fender). Made a battery strap out of and old air filter strap.

@ XSCHRIS..........
I did think about that mate, but the gasket only tilts them about 3/16",and with the angle of the cylinder heads, they actually sit pretty level on the bike(by eye!!).Unfortunately,it was the only way I could squeeze them in under the backbone!!.I've already swapped the tops for the shallower xs400 items(mine is the 400 DOHC) to cheat a bit more clearance!!......:yikes:

I replaced the stock handlebars with tracker bars and now need to figure out how to shorten the cables and brake line...

There is no need to shorten the cables. I have run stock cables with clip-ons. I just played with the routing until I found something that worked. Just test everything before you ride and avoid extreme bends in the cables. Make sure to test all controls with the handlebars at full lock in both directions.

not necessary, true but they are unsightly as they are. I'll try a couple different reroutes and see if that helps. At any rate, the brake line is bunched up enough that it is near kinking, that is more of a concern for me.

They are the real deal pods from back in the day and for $30 shipped it will be well worth it:wink2:

for the past 4 days....cleaned the motor again, made some gaskets, cleaned the motor again and buffed some of the 30 plus years of marks, dent and dirt. buffed it some more and finally reinstalled it back on the frame. today, I might order more items....sinus flare up is kicking my ass today.

Got my Tank design layed out, masked up and sprayed.....only a rattle can job in my workshop, but after 6 coats of each colour, and a colour sand,I think it came out pretty good

Aprilia RS125 fork (anodized in gold) but now I changed my mind and I am not sure about the color (black goes with everything). Some bits (almost from the whole engine) degreased, brushed and galvanized and tank is chemically stripped

I have more pics from my build but I am lazy to start a thread:D

Keep the gold fork tubes! Many modern sport bikes have gold fork tubes regardless of the color of the motorcycle. It is quite "normal" to see and draws attention to a unique aspect of your build. Not many people run inverted forks.
