What is that sensor in the clutch handle anyways?

I admit that I have no clue what this sensor attached to the clutch lever does! Someone please educate me!

I'm glad you asked this, I was just wondering myself. I thought maybe it was a clutch position thing but there's nothing that it would connect to, is there? These bikes are too simple to need much in the way of sensors.
 
It's part of the starting saftey system. Connects to a relay that ensures you have the clutch in to start the bike. Prevents people from launching the bike on startup if it's in gear.
 
Ahh. If that's the case, I think a lot of them don't work on our bikes. It certainly doesn't work on mine. :) I'm OK with that.
 
A lot of people just disconnect them. A xs650 I had had one. It was one of the first things to go:D
