Hello there motorcycle lovers. I recently bought my first heavy motorcycle and i believe it was a bargain! I bought a Yamaha XS 400 12E (1983) 33kw that had went 6000 swedish miles. However i cant seem to find the particular name for it? i haven't been able to find a manual either. I've read people talking about DOHC , Maxim and such but how do i know if these apply to my bike ? And why haven't i found another 12E version of the bike. What have i missed ??

What i do know of my bike is that it has monoschock instead of dual shock. Im sorry if my expertise is lacking regarding the bike.

Looks like a dohc seca xs400. Most dohc xs400 stuff is the same for parts and maintenance.

Great then i can service my bikes with the manuals from the forum. Appricate the quick answer :)

Hi Noah, with the 12E motor, it will be an XS400 Seca, as the Maxim has the 12R motor, the main difference being the Seca has a six (6) speed gearbox (transmission), whereas the Maxim has a rive (5) speed transmission

I hope this has been of help to you?
