Hey rugby, art. Sorry to wake sleeping dogs, did you ever end up getting your charging system to work? I have the same issue with my charging system and headlights.

I was wondering drewpie...I got an rr38 unit with only one connector, 3 whites, 1 black, 1 green, 1 red, and one brown all in same connector. I if figure out the wiring properly, could the unit itself work on my bike? Thanks

Update....I tried kick starting without the key, with the red wire touching the white, and it started up hot! I just figured out how to hot wire a bike, quite by accident.

turns out my white 25a fuse blew...I have power once again! now to get it to turn over.....

so the bike wasnt starting...I was having some petcock issues, so i pulled the carbs to clean them. took some updated pics for yal.. So the problem is that, now, not only does my charging system not work, even after I replaced my voltage regulator, but my bike totally powered off even though...

Sorry BB - i actually meant the red wire connecting the Rectifier to the battery. So yeah, I ran all the tests, and it seems my voltage regulator is shot. Is there any way to do a resistance test on it? Or do i assume it just needs to be replaced based on process of elimination? Thanks guys.

BB - I mean the red wire connecting the battery to the voltage regulator, maybe the wire is frayed closer to the battery? Im going to check it now danalpatt - I did do voltage test while running, and it just kept dropping, i also looked at the amp reading while in off position and it is 0...

So i did all the resistance checks, on the stator, coil, and rectifier, and everything came out OK..so Im thinking maybe the positive connection from the rectifier to the battery is shorted. If thats OK, I think I'll need to remove the rotor. For that, I need a big bolt (16mm, 1.5 thread)...
