250 tank for the 400

Hi all!
Just bought my second tank for my '81 400 project.First one was a rd200 tank which isn't straight swap(don't know what was I thinking),now I bought an xs250 tank which is shorter than the original
I saw a few 400s with 250 tanks(I think) but can't find any info how to fit it.I presume it's not something difficult but I tend to complicate things so a quick explanation would be useful..
The other thing is the forks(aprilia rs ones) are touching it(the tank)
Any ideas?

Not sure about the forks, but for the tanks the square style tanks will only work with bikes that came with them and the same goes for the tear drop style ones. You can make them fit but you will have to change the location of the rear mounting bolt in order to make it work. Post some pics of what you have.

I can't picture it but you're looking at moving the mounting points. Either move the mounts on the frame or modify the tank.
