Air box connection to carb intake, XS400 Maxim

The rubber connection to the RH carburetor does not go all the way onto the carb intake, the air box seems to be distorted and has pulled the connection back about 1/4". Not sure how to remove the air box or how to fix this issue issue, all suggestions welcomed...thanks,
