Am I missing pieces?

I have a 1981 xs 400 sohc. Just got her running and I'm thrilled to get her on the road, but I stumbled into a problem. There seems to be nowhere to connect the clutch cable? I'm figuring I must be missing pieces, but I'm not sure which ones.

From the pic, I would guess the sprocket cover ...

Hahaha yeah those would help. Figured out I'm just missing that tiny spring with hooks on it.

that should be connected to the worm gear attached to the inner side of the sprocket cover.. it attaches to the clutch cable

Should be, but I bought the bike in pieces so little odds and ends are just missing.

are you missing the sprocket cover? should be able to find one cheap enough on ebay and it should include the spring and worm gear.

Have the sprocket cover with the worm, just not that spring. There's a motorcycle junkyard close by I'm going to go do some Halloween shopping there today and see if I can't find one.

Found a spring the other day for it, isn't exactly the same as OEM but seems to work fine. Now to put it back on tonight and see how it works.

Make sure to put a dab of grease in the hole where that ball bearing is. The clutch push rod goes into it and that ball needs to be able move.
