Carb rebuild question

I'm about to rebuild the carbs on my 78 XS400 and I have a question about the rebuild kits that I found. Will this kit for a 1977 XS400 fit on a 1978?

If so, why is there another section for a 1978-1979?

I'm hoping the kit for the 77 (does in have the same carbs?) because they actually have it in stock and it's cheaper from the website than it is from ebaymotors.

The only things I see are different is the 77 carb kit has a 142.5 main but the 78-79 has a 132.5 main and it includes a emulsion tube ( needle jet) . The 77-79 carbs are the same other than different size main jets.

I don't recommend kits. Most don't have the brass parts that work right. The gaskets are ok, sometimes if they come with a float valve, it's ok.
I would tear down, clean, inspect what you have. If you find anything worn or bad then replace it.
Yamaha used very robust gaskets, they can be reused most of the time.
