Would Silicon work as well, on a 34 year old engine? or am I better off using Copper cored HT leads?

Copper core only. If you have non-resistor plugs use resistor caps. If you have resistor plugs use non-resistor caps.

That's what I thought, Chris! It looks like trawling the internet, to find somewhere to get some new copper core HT leads then?
Thank's for clarifying, the thing with the leads. I didn't think that silicon would work, but I really needed someone else's opinion!

Thanks

Merlin

Copper core is just that - the wires in the core are made of copper. Extra premium ones are also "tinned" to reduce corrosion. Silicone refers to the insulation on the core wires. Typically ignitions wires have 2 layers, the inner an electrical insulator, the outer a protective coating.
