Hello,
I've technically been a member for a long time and frequently utilize the forums for info but I can't remember if I've ever introduced myself. I'm Dan and own a 78 XS400. I had the bike for 5 or 6 years, then sold it to my brother in law. However, he recently moved out of state, and I got it back. I then decided to completely rebuild the bike. The bare frame is currently sitting in my living room as I wait for a new swing arm bolt and bushings to arrive and parts to come back from the powder coat shop / mill shop.
To give you an idea of the build, here are some of the parts:
Motogadget m.unit blue
Motogadget m.blaze signals
Motogadget m.button
New bushings / seals / gaskets / bearings throughout
Hoop with LED inset brake/signals
LED headlight
Shinko 270's
I am completely redoing the wiring harness from scratch and had a question concerning charging system differences between the 78 and later years. I see that Ricks makes a Reg/Rec for both 78 and 79 but they are different part numbers. Does anyone know the difference between them?
