Went and got myself a XS400K 83’ maxim
Kinda on a whim at a good deal.
Always ridden dirt bikes and took a few friends bikes out for a try. But never owned my own motorcycle
Frame was fine, but visually bike was rough
I went into it knowing I’d be rebuilding this whole bike. As I’m a automotive technician I wanted a nice project to keep me and my brain busy.
Always loved the cafe racer look. Realized that the maxim is very rarely done as a true “cafe” due to its awkward frame angles
Oh well I took the challenge.
Here’s some progress so far currently waiting on a seat and longer mono shock so I can flatten out the stance of the bike by bringing the rear up, and front down.
So have not done any major frame chopping yet
