Hi all,

Been awhile. I bought a MAC 2-2 system some time ago and fitted it to my 1979 XS400F. Was never happy with the way it fitted but put it down to bent pillion footrest hangers throwing out everything. Had to use spacers etc.

Last month I picked up another 79 250F that is battered but stock. Pipes are stuffed though so decided I'd see how the MAC went on a straight bike.

My question is - if someone has done this on a 250/400F (rather than a heritage) did you use the existing muffler hangers? If I do this (using only one bolt though) the RH pipe seems ok but the LH one is too close to the side stand mount.

I then tried reversing the headers (wider gap between header n frame now) and using the supplied ugly metal straps instead of the stock hangers. Everything seems to line up ok but the pipes are very low n wide and look naff.

Thanks,

Ade
