Okay, went to check my front breaks yesterday and noticed they are wearing at an angle. See the diagram.

They should wear flat no? (Im a noob) Ill change them out asap, but should something be done to correct it, or will simply reinstalling likely correct a botched job?

Imagine i will get more braking power when this gets sorted. Since only part of the pad is really wearing I imagine i must only be getting a portion of the potential breaking power.

If you have a 80-81 sohc xs400 the type of caliper have pads designed to be slanted like that. It is a pivoting type system. If you look at the pads when they are new they look the same. I have two bikes that have these.

Ahhh, okay good to hear from an experienced owner.

Yes, its an 81.

Thanks for taking the time !

No problem. This question has been asked a lot over the years so don't feel bad.
