Hi guys, just picked up my first bike, 1984 xs400, and im currently fixing up some minor things.

I'd like to know if anyone here knows where the fuse box/panel is. I've looked around and cannot locate it. I havent looked under the seat as i was unable to find a way to remove it.

Thanks in advance!

I found this off of partzilla, looks like the rest of the bikes. By the key lock assembly, is a helmet holder. use your bike key to unlock that lock, and the lever should move, allowing the seat to pop up. Looks like there is hinges, so its is going to clam shell open.
hope that helps
Tobie

Thanks for the input, arfstrom. I tried that and it did not do anything. the lever swung open but it didnt release the seat.

On mine the key turns in one direction to open the helmet holder, the other direction to open the seat.
It is where the fuses are and also the first step to removing the seat if required.
