XS400 Newbie
Hello all and thanks for providing such a wealth of info here on the forum. I've just picked up my first bike and I'm looking so very forward to getting out in the spring. '79 XS400 that has definitely seen some action, but has plenty left to give. It's currently with a pal who's taking care of the first tune-up as I don't have access to a garage in winter. I'll be going to see him on Saturday for a run-down of what needs doing. Definitely needs a flushing, some carb cleaning, new tires, and a new battery. I'll likely be picking up most of my info from lurking around on the board.
The previous owners had it in the family for about 10 years. The father had just come back from a Pacific Coast Highway trip and his father (68 at the time - and not a rider) said he wanted to join him for the same. They picked up the bike for him to learn on. Once he bought a bigger beast, the bike went to the son to learn on. He took it down to Dragon's Tail with his dad when he had enough experience. As you can see, he flipped/dropped the bars somewhere along the line.
Anyway - it's mine now and I'm looking forward to it!
Cheers!
