Drewpy, you are a veritable fountain. Thanks. My problem is that I have rewired this thing at least three times now and have checked every part for workability and they all check out, coils, pickup coils, battery, etc... I am suspect that the problem must lie in the igniter box, which I bought used. (Oh, the problem I have is no spark).
So as a result and a reluctance to buy another used part, I want to go to the old reliable point system. I did find one new igniter, it is $600.

points are simple and really easy to sus once you have the hardware.
