Hey lads, so I need to replace the coils on my xs. I was wondering what your experience with coils are/which do you recommend?

I know mikes xs sells his Hitachi type coils which I'm sure you all have experience with., Are they any good? Or are they like the ergo ones?

The other option I saw was the Accel coils.
There's the 140408 Super Coil. http://www.amazon.com/ACCEL-140408-Single-Yellow-Super/dp/B000HRYY44

Which Ive heard works well in everything twin from Honda cb's to Harley's.

And then there's the Accel 140403 Super. http://www.amazon.com/ACCEL-140403S-Universal-Super-Coil/dp/B001OMQJF8

Which I've been reading works well in cb160s and the like.

What do you guys think I should go with? What's your experience in having to swap out coils? Thanks!

You would need a single fire coil. One with one wire per coil. Those types you listed are for 360* and like type firing motors. Ours has a 180* crank and needs a separate coil for each plug. Make sure the coil you buy has the correct resistance for your bike.

I use the mikesxs ones right now; they seem to work just fine. In the past I believe I got mine from partsnmore. They're Chinese and seem to work just fine!

How's that for a review? Ha! Friend of mine used some generic emgo ones on his Honda CB360; they also worked fine but needed modifications to mount them up. His mid 70's Honda uses the exact same coils as my Yamaha.

Ciaostupido - What coils did you end up using? i almost bought the Mikes ones but i noticed they were Made in China and also noticed bcware confirming but also noting they worked well....I have not had good luck with Made in China motorcycle parts - Taiwan yes (Emgo, K &L) mainland not so much and there was anither post calling the Mikes ones junk....

For anyone interested in this thread still I did end up using the Emgo coils they worked and fit and hooked up perfectly
