kickstarter problems acts like its not engaging

having problems with my kickstarter it acts like its not engaging when i kick it its like the clutch is in but its kind of hard to kick if i kick about 8 times it engages and turns the engine over but after that it wont engage again for another few tries and when i use the electric start it make a spinning noise in the engine like a part of the kickstarters stuck or something

is your clutch adjusted properly?

theres a little spring where the kick shaft goes into inside the case, if its not sitting just right the small slide gear on the kickshaft gets stuck. i think you have to pop off a side cover to get in there if i can rememeber

Is there anyway to tell by not taking the case off

hopefully you dont have to split the bottom crank case, but you will need to pull off the side cover to atleast have a gander.

i looked at the kickstarter through the oil dipstick hole and i can see it engaging just fine but its like the lever is slipping but the gears look fine and the spring looks fine

If that's fine then is the bolt loose that tightens the lever to the shaft?
It just pinches the shaft maybe its slipping

i figured it out it was my clutch cable it was to tight
