Long Distance Cruising and 17 Tooth sprockets

I assume it came as a length of 101 plus a connecting link which you riveted once it was on the bike to make 102. And it's one or two links too short.
To get it off, you will need to grind out the rivet heads on the original connector and lose it. Now you're down 2 or 3 links.
I think you would need 2 of those connector links and one regular link. Hook one connector to each loose end and put the regular link in between and then rivet it up.
Alternately, you could use 2 Master links plus one regular link.
I don't think I would risk using an old Master Link or any piece of an old chain though. That would become the weakest link and where the chain would break prematurely.
