lowering the rear

I want to lower my bike, and am prepairing to cut the spring s on the rear shocks, has anyone done this? And any advice or tips? Thanks

I cut about 2" off mine, a lot of guys cut 2 1/2" off. Compress the spring, pull the top dust cover down, put a wrench on the "nut", put a screw driver through the top mount and screw it off. Cut the spring and reassemble.

I got the spring s off no problem, how do I remove the spring from the shock, so I can cut it?

Compress the spring, pull the rubber bump stop and dust cover down, put a wrench on what looks like a nut, put a screwdriver through the top mount hole and spin it off.

Does cutting the rear springs down make it ride rough and bouncy?
