Spent a good part of the afternoon getting the float drain screw removed. Spent the first hour or two trying to remove the float screw with an impact driver and a vice grips but it just trashed the head.

So I got out the screw extractor.. which proceeded to rip the head of the screw right off. Not all of it, just some it.

Fast forward another hour and I finally got the damn thing out. Had to heat cycle it a few times, pen oil, and then finally the screw extractor got it out.

So! Is there any place that one can routinely find a float drain screw in a brick 'n mortar store?? Or is it only going to be online??

Thanks!

Got mine online from Mike's XS, but you can get a bolt at a hardware store and cut it down. I used a stainless bolt from Ace for a while until I ordered the new brass ones. I think it is 8mm, but I'm not sure. Whatever size, I know it's a standard fine thread.
