Guys, i want this to be on a separate thread, and didnt find any similar.
I am doing engine rebuild, and today I measured original rings end gaps, they were out of limit, so new one will be used. After that piston-cylinder clearence was measured, and the result was shocking to me. Limit is 0.03 - 0.05 mm, but i measured 0.15mm. Can that be real? Or did I measured it wrong?
I put piston without rings in the cylinder, so they stay level (like in TDC) and measured gap with feeler gauge on one side. That measurement was 0.15.
Does this meas i need oversized pistons? +1 size is +0.25, in this case i need to bore cylinders. Or it will be OK to use just oversized rings and reuse my pistons.
Just a remark: the engine was working well, rebuild is done because of whining noise from tranny.
