soft front suspension

You can change oil weights to change the dampening, but if your bike is diving when you brake, pretty much need new springs to help with that. If you want to change fork oil, which if you haven't, I would definitely do. It seems like nobody ever followed the service intervals. I would recommend removing the forks too, if they have the original oil they will need to be disassembled and cleaned to get the sludge out.

:agree:...Plus, if maintenance hasn't been done for years some oil could have bled out...either by the bleeder screw or by the oil seals leaking.
So...take 'em out, clean em, inspecthe the springs and put them back together with fresh oil in the amount specified in the manual, new seals....you'll be fine mate:bike:

Yeah, you can drain the forks while in the bike. The Phillips head screw at the bottom on the side is the drain. I've always had to "pump" the forks to get it all out.

Yes you can but you won'the be able to properly clean them/change the oil seals.
And....not Phillips but JIS...this may help you avoid stripping the screw.
