Spongy clutch

I'm hoping someone can help me out the clutch on my bike is barely working. It's almost all free play and when I try to adjust the play out of it , it won't kick over or slips real bad I removed the sprocket cover and noticed that the pushrod is in 2 pieces is this normal for a 79

anyone else confirm this- thought mine was one solid piece?
Your cable has probably stretched/ housing compressed.

Pushrod is one piece. The parts diagram splits it for space purposes.

If it's in 2 pieces on your bike, you've found your problem.

I had the problem this WE, for shur your externals plates friction and internal plates clutch are "glued", "adhered", you need to disassemble all the diaphragm discs and reassemble..

be carrefull when you reassemble the part 7, be shure that tooth male and female are good "penetrated"

These rods do break. It should be a piece part.

Thanks for the info I ordered a nos pushrod and actuator from ebay I sent the motor out and had it rebuild with new clutch rebuild. When I build the bike How hard do you think it will be to get the broken piece of pushrod out

tip bike to the left, grab rod and ball bearing

With mine I pushed it out with another rod I had with the clutch basket removed.

The problem with mine was it had mushroomed a little and needed the pressure to move. Being made of aluminum a magnet was out of the question also.

It's still rideable so I'll wait for the parts to show up and tear into it
