Wanted - starter for 82 XS400J Maxim

After hardwiring the battery straight to the starter to inspect the condition of the starter, it wouldn't start and acted sluggish (after a thorough cleaning of the inside of it). Looking for a used one for cheap because new ones are more than I'd like to spend. Shoot me a message!

bump again. Does anyone know which year model starters will fit on my '82 XS400 Maxim? Will an '81 work?

I would think only the 82-84 dohc ones will work. I have seen a few on ebay.
