Stock headlight mount removal

Hey all, apologies if this has been covered before, but I searched and didn't find anything. I have an 82 XS400 special and I'm wondering how the stock headlight mounts coming off the fork are removed, as they appear to be a part of the fork itself. Do I just hammer them off or are there some subtle nuances I'm missing?

I wouldn't use a hammer, but an angle grinder will do the trick nicely

Try to remove the upper yoke...

I am not sure if your bike is the same as mine...but there are sleeves like these between the yokes...so if you remove the upper yoke, it should be a piece of cake to remove these mounts...

Oh wow, I didn't realize that whole jam was a sleeve, I thought it was just part of the fork itself. Thanks!
