"The Kramer" 82 Seca Build.

You'll have to head up here on a 3rd sunday to ride with the VVMC guys and go to Deus in Venice for Sunday Mass. Pretty amazing scene!

That sounds like a fun group! I might try and catch the next one!

Man, that bike is gonna be all yours when it's done. Very unique direction you're taking it.

Thanks bentwrench, Its fun having people trying to guess what the bike is.
Beautiful restoration job btw, very nice!

Got a little done yesterday..now have power but mostly working on a battery box & trying to figure where to hide electrical.

I'm stuck at the same spot - battery and electrical. I'm thinking of one of two places - between the rear uprights, sitting on the swingarm (with a little foam padding to protect the battery from vibrations)...

Or the cool one is under the engine. There's an unused hole on the left side, behind the oil pan. I'm thinking of rigging up a sealed battery to sit under there on its side - totally out of sight. I need to find a good place to mount the right side though, so I don't have to worry about the battery falling off...

Indeed man! The mono shock totally kills my chance of hiding electronics under seat.
Yeah sealed battery is the way to go, Im working with the acid battery I got for the present though..at least untill I recover from this project lol. Let me know what you end up going with!

DMV fees are stupid... Its not hard for them to check date of owner when fined.

:wtf:

Finally got to ride her on only one cylinder & unjetted without the pods on..but man she roars! I believe one of the pickups is dead [last photo]. Finished up the cover under the seat, did some wheel painting & made a plate mounting bracket..but didnt account for exhaust pipes  Almost tempted to run straight pipes but I need to hear my tunes while riding :bike:
Also flipped my bars, leaking petcock ate away at my engine paint job..lol.
Trial & error though:laugh:
Heres some new pics:

Love the helper shot. Good doggy.

I like how the bike is shaping up, but I gotta say...

every time I see purple, I just think "ah, the color of sexual frustration."

Looks great! I'm seriously digging this build. I like the new location for your rear lights a lot. If you need to troubleshoot a leaky petcock, you can have a look at my writeup from a couple of weeks ago. Regardless of what kind of petcock it is, as long as it's a gravity-feed it will run of generally the same principles.
How did you decide on naming it "The Kramer" anyway?

TJ, I know you are a moto brain, but we've noticed a lot of issues with different jetting/pods lately. If you can get mikunis to test the bike on then do the rejetting/changes, you'll at least know where you problems lie..

Good luck.

Thanks again, I think its a pretty sick color..always loved it, but not for most.
Has to be done tastefully, when its all buttoned up if it looks a little unmanly I can always go to what Im good at..flat black out everything

Yeah I just read that writeup, good info in there thanks. My niece said they look like Wall-E eyes lol. brakelight works great, signals seem to not work unless fronts are plugged in too..Anyone have this problem? Plus they have no ground wires on em, so Im having trouble with them just staying on instead of flashing.

Another guessing game?
250 on Tj's a big-time fan of Seinfeld and his bike is a little "hairy" ....

Thanks brother, Im no expert this is my first build ever! Thats some great advice, I can tell this bike wants to run like hell..really wish I didnt destroy the stock air box when removing it so I can just ride & jet at another time but eh. Once I get her on both cylinders shouldnt be too much hastle. Thanks again.

Your signals rely on a load-sensitive relay, and I believe that's why they don't flash. You can replace your signal relay with a non-load sensitive version to get them to work again. By cutting your signal number in half by removing the fronts, you are cutting the wattage required by half, thereby reducing your flasher load by half as well. A load-sensitive relay won't pick up on that reduced draw, and so it won't send a proper signal.
Hope you follow :)

No idea where it is located, but it looks like this:

If I'm wrong, I hope a DOHC-er will forgive me and post what it actually looks like (and where it is so you don't spend an hour looking for it).

Ok yeah thats the sucker I thought it was, wow that little thing is pricey!
Thanks for the help.

Got my front end almost fully buttoned up yesterday.
speakers in place of gauges & purple rear pegs installed in front, eventually plan to eliminate all bar controls.
Whats left:
Jet carbs, new pick up coil, maybe another TCI, throw on pods, make a place for electronics, install battery box, touch up engine paint, purple rim stripes, mod exhaust, renew tags, clubmans, add HID, front signals, figure out rear signals, license plate light, bar end mirrors. Whew!

I figured out my spark problem was a bad pickup & ordered just the pickups with harness on ebay for $55.00. Then a day later a guy posts a whole assembly for $25.00 lol..Obviously I did the right thing & sent the overpriced product back for a refund & ordered the cheaper guy. The TCI box was a replacement from an awesome guy on ebay called williescycle, he Actually bought some stickers off me after giving me a great deal on the box for about $76.00 shipped. I realized my problem was pick up but just in case he gladly let me send the TCI back for a replacement to pinpoint the problem. Next time you need a CDI/TCI look him up before dropping $250.00+!

New TCI should be here this week & hopefully I can ride on both cylinders! Also threw on the jet kit and pods & made some decent side covers to hide the wiring for now.

New pick up.
