I am swapping to USD forks and the closest bearing I can find has a 2mm larger inside diameter than the triple tree stem. So i will need to make a bushing to press onto the stem to fit the new bearing. The bushings will be about 17mm in length, (i.d)28mm (o.d) 30mm. I'm just looking for some insight on materials for this bushing. Thank you

You should be okay using brass or mild steel since the bushing will be completely supported by the stem and bearing race. They will need to be a press fit on the stem so they don't move, and a close fit to the races.

I'd suggest making them longer than required and chamfering them to guide the bearing races when installing. You may want to make the top bushing chamfered on both ends to make it easier to remove the lower bearing in the future.

I look forward to your updates!

Dave
