oh yea and for carb cleaning you don't have to take off the engine at all, dont worry 
check your general maintenance section in your manual for just about all the maintenance you need to do on the short term, like changing oil and filters, checking air filters, checking sprockets and chain, battery, etc etc.
There are no real special tools needed, just a good set of sockets and screwdrivers will get you a long way.
