What did you do with your XS today?

arfstrom, I'm planning on doing oil change on the weekend. What kind of oil do you use?

I get my oil from walmart 5qts for 12.97, of Shell Triple T 15-40

The key element to the picking your oil, is our bikes are a wet clutch. so the code to look for is JASO MA. Which is in the gif image onthat link above. 2nd line down. (someone doubted me before) I just did the oil, the filter is only a couple months old. Filter I was able to find at O'rielys
FRAM® Extra Guard® - Motorcycle Oil Filter

Have fun!

Complete information -- thanks a lot, I appreciate this.

Washed it. Painted the exhaust and a trim panel. Serviced the battery. Polished the windshield. Checked the post office to see if my mirrors had arrived - they haven't.

Took the carbs apart for cleaning on the ('79 XS) 750. What a mess. Every single jet in the ****ing thing was plugged. Cleaned up nicely though. With the exception of this...looks like it's been broken for many many years. Hoping MikesXS has the right ones...or preferably my local dealer.

What part of Minnesota, Jordan MN has motorcycle junk yard, called sportwheels. The have a huge zone of Carb parts. They let you loose, and on the way out, they charge ya. Thats where I picked up my new to me brass carb floats.25 to 35 minutes out of the cities. Maybe they can mail you one.

Yep I've been there, got a few odd bits for the 400 there. I'm in faribault, about a half hour from Jordan probably.

lubed the chain and touched up her paint a little. A can of black can cover just about anything :p

Looks like a cool place. I'll have to make a trip into the big city to check it out.
They suggest you can call first and ask if they have what you need before coming -- that may save you some angst. But if you really are trying to have an excuse of driving your bike from Lindsay to Toronto, then forget what I just said.

I haven't been there myself, I do intend to check the place out soon as time permits.

thanks!! I first saw this muff on the losa eng. bike. Love at first sight:D Not any louder than the emgo rev cone I ran before and soooooooooo much lighter, the whole new system prolly weighs the same as the old muffler alone:D

arfstrom, I was able to get up to Sport Wheels today. Dealer had nothing. Looked like MikesXS had it but hard to be sure. Finally found a BS34 in good shape and tore into it, got the right one out of it, same number on it and everything. Then proceeded to hide that gang of carbs somewhere I can find it if needed! :lachen:

They let me have it for $10 plus gas to and fro.
