Hello,
i have just bought a XS400 in Australia, but i am confused what exactly model i have.

The bike has been sitting for the last 15 years but still runs.
The previous owner said the front had been changed but to what ?
duel discs, not sure from what 650 ,750 ,1100 ?
Rear has single disc
Yamaha ignition key has Canada stamp on it ?
Front wheel is 19 inch

First letters stamped on frame are 2LO

I am planning to turn it into a flat tracker.:bike:

Ah that's better! :)
The front-end could be off a xs400 as some models had double discs at the front.
I wouldn't pay much attention to the stamp on the ignition, odds are the old one broke and someone found a spare part as replacement, or maybe the entire bike is an import

You seem to have your work cut out for you on the bike! Good luck with the build

Looks to be a 78-E or 79-F. The front wheel/end could be off a xs650. The xs400 used a 18" one. What is the build date on the tag say?

If the frame says 79 then it's an 80 model. But here in the u.s. the bike looks like a 79. In other countries they produced earlier models for a longer time. That looks like what they did where you live.

This is what xs750 forks look like. But some do look more like the xs650 ones.
