will a coil from an xs650/750/850 xs bike fit an xs400

i did some reading and considering changing 1 or both of the ignition coils for my xs 400 my question is what models will have a coil that will interchange with my 78 xs400

Since yours is a points model I would stick with points model coils, so the 79 and earlier xs650s and '77 750 should work. The '79 750 and '80 and later 650s and 850s use electronic ignition so the resistance specs are different.
