Hi guys,

I'm currently (started july '15) rebuilding my xs400 seca to a custom. It's my first project ever.

I started with this.. bought it for a few Euros. It was already semi disassembled and 'edited' with a grinder.
However, many things were missing (found that out after a couple of weeks). So I had to start it all from the beginning without a working motorcycle.

First I disassembled the bike to know how some things were mounted and I wanted to clean any part anyway. So I ended up with this.

Started rebuilding with the front fork.

After the front fork, I started with the brake caliper.. what a hell of a project
Found out that the brake caliper was stuck like @#$%.
So I had to remove the bushings and the piston.

filled the bushing holes up with some kind of industrial paste aluminum. Ordered a new caliper piston + rubbers. added a 'nice' paint coat as well.

No offense, but I did not like the stock seca gastank + wheels. So I bought another tank + wheels.

After that I rebuild the carbs

After the carbs, onto the engine
started with this; sandblasted;

disassembled and painted

replace the bearings & seal rings and assemble it back together.

et voila

after the engine, the framework. Welded a loop at the end.
IMG_1233.JPG

created some kind of electronics plate
IMG_1520.JPG

sanded the tank and filled the original logo gap.

After the tank, created something for the seat.. Not final yet or so, but just the shape for the visual ideas.

I was not happy with the empty triangle underneath the seat/tank. So I created some side panels my self

Awesome build so far. I have an 82 Maxim, a very similar bike that has just been sitting in my yard waiting for me to tear into it. What is that new tank and any modification to get it to fit with the stock mounts?

It's a tank from an old xs650. It's been a while since I bought that tank, but I thought it was a 650.
Had to replace the mounts on the frame, yes. not a big job to do.
