    Static timing always reads closed?

I'm having a weird issue tuning up my bike for some spring riding and I can't seem to find out why its doing this! I just replaced the points and gapped at .15 and now I'm trying to get the timing squared away and it always reads as if the circuit is closed. I'm using a multimeter on the setting...

    XS360 Pilot Jet!

I used vacuum gauges. Hooked em up to both vacuum barbs and set the petcock to prime. I guess it just doesn't make sense to me how the right will preform normally without the vacuum line coming from the tank O.o

    XS360 Pilot Jet!

So here is the thread where I was originally assisted in the whole diaphragm thing... http://www.xs400.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8428 and about the carb sync thing... I tried. got the left so the needle was steady on the left side but nothing I could do would make the right side stop going...

    XS360 Pilot Jet!

I adjust that damn idle stop on a near constant basis. When its warm, it doesn basically nothing and then I have to readjust to get it started the next day

    XS360 Pilot Jet!

Diaphragms are brand new, mix screws are fine, the intake manifold boots are brand new. not sure about the butterfly seals... I wanna scrap that boot that holds the filters and just attach the right pods to my carbs to eliminate any chance of a leak there. I'll probably go back through and do my...

    XS360 Pilot Jet!

I thought that had more of an effect on mid rpm crusing.. My problem is when the bike warms up, the idle shoots up to around 3k rpm and most people have told me its lean in the pilot circut

    XS360 Pilot Jet!

I can't for the life of me find the correct pilot jets for this bike! What is in there right now is a 17.5 and I need to go up. The catch is it's the pilot jet without the little holes in it. My bike is running super lean so I'm going to go up another size in the mains (already went up 1) and...

    Annoying perch issue

So I've been dealing with this issue for longer than I care to admit, and I'm finally giving in and posting in hopes of getting a quick response. For some reason, its been impossible for me to find a brake perch that has left hand threads for my mirror! I want a very basic one and I have...

    Pilot Jets xs360?

So I pulled out the pilot jets on my 360 and even though my carbs are bs34s the pilot jet has no air holes. I was under the assumption that the bs34s were supposed to have air holes in the pilot jet O.o If I'm wrong, is it a bad thing to get the holes in the pilot jets? I need to go up a size...

    Cracks in diaphragm rim

Paying $90 is exactly what I'm trying to avoid lol I'm going to try jbm and see if I can figure out which size I need. I'm a little wary because I dont see the xs360 or even 400 anywhere on any of their lists and I'm not sure which diaphragm I need

    Cracks in diaphragm rim

So I'm pulling my carbs apart, cleaning em and rejetting them for the first time. It doesn't look as bad as i assumed it would, but I noticed some small cracks along the edge of one of the diaphragms. I tested it by putting a finger firmly over the oval hole on the front of the carb and it...

    Cutting rear springs?

I'd like to lower my bike a little bit so I can stand over it and put my feet flat. I only need it lowered an inch or two. Has anybody ever cut stock springs with any degree of success? I've heard that people do it, but I've never seen any pictures or heard any real stories about people doing it...

I decided to buckle down and order the gasket. Currently waiting on its arrival at the local shop :) Will post if it works. Cross your fingers!

    Kickstart rubbing on side cover?

The spring is set correctly in the groove at 6 O' clock and then I wound the spring clockwise to sit on the perch at about 11 O' clock. The worm drive and spring action are functioning perfectly until you put the side cover on and tighten it up. Would it be because i am using rtv instead of a...

    Kickstart rubbing on side cover?

So I just wanted to post this one more time before I have a shop come and pick my bike up because I haven't been able to figure this out and i really wanna ride... I'm trying to reassemble the right side of the bike but whenever I tighten up the side cover it feels like it is putting pressure on...

    Kickstart gear

Ok I've figured out that the kickstart gear stops moving freely when the sidecover bolts are tightened (and when I say "tightened," I mean barely any pressure, two finger tightened") Is this because there is no oil in the bike or is there another reason all together? I have the small washer on...
