1978 xs400, make it mine?

Hi to everyone.
I'm lifton, from switzerland and new to this site.
I'm looking for my first motorcycle, always been a Vespist!
I recently jumped into this '78 xs400 2a2 and wanted to ask your experts opinion!
What i know is that the bike has been clearly oversprayed, tachos, (4??) mirrors aren't original, has horrible handle grips. What you think about wheels? Could be sr250 ones?

Bike should have around 25k miles and a new clutch.

What you think? Could be a nice base for a build? My inspiration is Macco motors to Moto Verso builds...

Welcome to the Forum.
Looks like your bike is similar to this model - with spoke wheels and drum front brakes.

The model you posted has front drum , the one that i'm gonna see wednesday has disk!

hope i'm gonna lower his price, this xs is tempting me!

The only xs that I know of that has spoke disc front and rear was the xs250.

you sure there's enough mirrors on there?

looks a good buy as those wheels are plus point.

I think it may have a 400 engine transplanted in there. what is the frame number?

I'm gonna see the xs wednesday, i'll check motor and frame numbers

so.. i saw the xs today.
is in overall good conditions but with new battery didn't start. motor is not blocked and has good compression...
frame and motor numbers are 2a2, in the 120'000's (can remember exact number) with difference of 2 unit between them.
Bike comes directly from germany, he's 2nd owner and said wheels are original. i still doubt it.
he wants one grand.. he's not lowering the price. in my opinion.. too much for a bike that i can't try cause it doesn't start!

2A2 is a 400 in any case yeah 1000 is too much if the bike won't even start
bought mine running for 250, dunno about prices in switzerland though
