Basket case needs rewired....need type of bike

Hello to all of you, I am looking to rewire....more like repair the birds nest of wires on my new xs 400....

Problem is, I want to make sure I am basing the wiring from the proper wiring diagram.
It has a 9 number vin
2L0-******

the previous owner did some work on the bike and had no clue on what bike style it is other than knowing it is a 1979 yamaha xs400.

He did the wiring....but only twisted them and electrical taped them....at least it all works...but i want to make sure that since he cut the corner on the wiring job....maybe he cut other corners i should be aware of.

I plan to solder them properly and shrink wrap them to help seal them...before i have major issues with wiring falling apart...

Please help me I would like to get the bike going before the pavement dries!

Looks like 2L0 is a 1979 XS400F

Can anyone look at their data to confirm this...or is this the site you use ???

If your build date on the neck is 77 it's a 78 if it's 78 it's a 79. Pics also helps. Welcome to the forum. The 79's start with 2LO-1XXXXXX and the 78's start with 2LO-0xxxxxxx

So i completed the wiring...just waiting for replacement tail light and turn signals and I am set to hit the road once i have the bike safetied... I spent approx 3 hours a few nights ago soldering the wires and shring wrapping them. I also had a friend build me a spacer to help drop the battery box so the aftermarket seat that came with the bike can sit lower on the frame. now i am just trying to figure out a bracket for mounting the coils onto either side of the battery box. the tail end of the bike is cleaned up and removed all of the prior scary welds for the rear fender and seat and tail light..... cant wait to get things moving.....
