Hey guys I have a 1981 xs400 with tubeless tires and non-spoke wheels. I noticed I had a small leak coming from the base of my valve stem on my rear wheel so I replaced it. I got a stem that is nearly identical from my local Napa. It’s the metal kind with the rubber grommet on the inner side, washer and nut on the outer side. I cleaned all my surfaces well and installed the new stem and I’m STILL getting some bubbles at the base of the stem around the washer. I mean it is metal on metal so I’m not surprised that it’s leaking but that seems to be the way the old stem was as well as my front tire’s stem which isn’t leaking. Maybe a small amount of RTV in between the rim and washer might help?
