im going only kick start on my 82 xs400, is there any problems i would be running into removing the starter clutch from behind the rotor?

the one on the bike now is messed up, and instead of buying a new starter clutch and rotor, i would rather just remove it if its not going to do any harm.

thanks

i left mine in there, its not going anywhere.

just take off the chain and guide.

welcome to the site BTW

when the bike is running, the starter clutch/flywheel, just bounces around so im thinking the bearings inside are fubar. So instead of getting a new rotor/flywheel assembly, i would remove the flywheel/starter clutch and spen the money elsewhere.

thanks for the welcome, i hope i am able to contribute as much as i can.

Ahh righty-o! you'll need a puller bolt to break the taper seal. Its very tight. using a 3 legged puller is a no no!

have a search on here as someone started a thread on this subject
