I was in the process of replacing original bars with something flatter. The bars I bought were painted. New bars are on, everything is remounted but it will not start and it would before.

I am will be testing the relay, but I was curious about the starter button. Does they button complete a circuit by grounding to the handlebars? If so, the painted handle bars are a problem.

Thanks

You need to have a clean connection for both sides of the controls. The right one grounds to the left one through the bars.

above is correct! i just went through this issue this summer. borrowed a dremel tool from a friend which made quick work of the sanding. And make sure each side is down to bare metal.

Thanks for confirming. The nice color wiring diagrams from this site is additional confirmation. Elbow grease it is.

Thanks again.
