What year is my xs400?

getting ready to start my restore,, Should have done it over winter but hey...
Not sure if it will matter when I start ordering parts.
But here's the engine/frame numbers.

4R4-007508 (Engine/Frame)
JYA4R400 4 BA007508
12/80

Title says 1981. NOt sure if those 2 years will matter in parts I order.
I'm assuming the 12/80 meaning the manufacture date.

Any info on the bike you can give me would be great.

according to this it should be 1981 XS400SH Heritage

Yep 81. When ordering most parts the years 80-82 sohc will be the closest to your bike. The 77-79 sohc bikes have a lot of the same parts but not all will work will work with yours. How about posting some pics of your bike. We like pics.

Any vehicle manufactured on or after July will be next year's model, so your bike being manufactured in December 1980 would be a 1981.

Here's the little beast. I pulled the front wheel. off to change the bearings. Need to do the shock oil, and change the tires this weekend.

I can lift cars and trucks with my jack but a motorcycle? Pfft...

I picked it up last year, I bought it for 500, ran rough, but found it was only running on 1 cylinder. Change of plugs, wires and boots got it firing on both cylinders.
