Bike runs fine when key is in the center position when I turn key all the way right bike dies but thats the only way headlight and gauge lights work my bike had a lot of wiring just cut when i got it does anyone know how i could wire around this please help

Then figure out your harness, cause the most right position is supposed to kill your engine. It is meant that you can left your lights on and take the key out.

Also, learn to use punctuation and capitalization in your posts.

:D

Hate to say this, but wiring around things is what caused this problem. If you have a SOHC XS400, there is a factory manual on this cite which includes a wiring schematic. Sounds to me like it's time to return the wiring to original and fix whatever cause the previous owner to do a work-around.

I have wired it all back to spec, I suppose either the ignition switch or the right side switch is fualty. I'm just going to run a feed from the on position to the headlight switch.
