Worst carbs in the world!!!!

I looked at the auction again. I have to disagree with being able to save "If you had to"
Looking at the amount of buildup, and how pitted they are, the passages will never be the right sizes again, the slides won't fit tight into the body, and even IF you get the air screws loose the chances of getting them to seal and work properly are about 0. I'd be shocked if they could be made good enough for them to get a bike physically "running". But it won't run well, until new carbs are fitted, just too much metal's been lost....
 
Here is a carb I bought off eBay. Looked pretty good from the outside.

Always get good pics of the carbs you buy off ebay!! I got a set a few years ago that look like they had set in a swamp for 25years but those have to be the worst:doh: Hope you got your money back.
 
I think HD wanted to restore it for the guy (after they tracked him down).... But now it sits in the Harley museum exactly as it looks in the pic.
