anyone here from the pittsburgh, pa area

I've been riding alone again, except for a charity run here, and there. My one son moved to WV, and the other was crippled after having been run into on his cycle a few years ago. I'm still riding, but riding a Yamaha FZ1000 which I love. Have managed to keep it under 131 mph for nearly 4 years...

    Rear ended

Not me, but my son. Stopped at a red light, the car behind him changed lanes, the car driver of the car behind that car was speeding and or not paying attention, squealed his tires a second or two before connecting, trowing my son in the air. This is the best I have come to understand anyway...

    Old guys rule!

Thanks. I also have an '82 1100 XS Maxim, but have never ridden it. It's in terrible shape from sitting in the weather for something like 10 years. Going to give it to my neighbor just to git rid of it, once I figure how to get a replacement title, since I misplaced mine. I was foolish and...

    Old guys rule!

How can I find out if it's Gen I or Gen II? It's not fuel injected if that helps. That's all I can think of that might help.

My sons managed to make it to the Bike Night at the Cranberry QS&L, but I had to work this time. Unusual for me to have to work in the evenings. Will have to get back to you about possibly going to the QS&L near you. Still haven't found out which day they have it on. Rode some today, got...

So, would you be interested in meeting at a Bike Night some place? Then maybe we can get an idea, if we would want to do some ridding together, and get some ideas where we might go. My son David told me he took a 100 mi ride over the weekend. Funny, I was thinking of calling to see if there...

Sounds cool. I live near Ambridge something like 15 mi N of Pittsburgh. My sons and I like to meet at the Cranberry Quaker Stake and Lube when we can. We don't get to ride much together though. My sons have Yamahas too, one just got a V Star 1300, I think it's a V Star anyway. the other has...

    Old guys rule!

Just thought I'd pipe in. I'm on my second 400 Maxim too, I'm 63 till Dec. Still like take'n a few chances myself. Like laying it way low when I come from a stop onto the highway and giving it some gas, going left or right! That is a bunch of fun for me! Then to hear a kid say something...

    Petcock RES problem

I had trouble reading my pet-cock and found I was running on reserve. Something about these makes it difficult to read. On the other hand, when I set it correctly and have to use reserve, I have much engine problems. It sputters, and misses much of the time. Going to clean up my extra...

    High speed highway riding

Learned another and likely the most important reason for my unstable rides when I replaced my Front Tire! It made a remarkable difference! Thought it still had enough tread for a while, but it seemed a little dry rotted to me, so thought I don't need to chance it any more. It was also high in...

    Slipping clutch $$$ ?

I only remember him saying they were ordering springs, and plates. If it is still in the ballpark they quoted, am going to suggest they re-evaluate the charges, and let them know there will be at least one blog about it if they are ripping me off. Well something like that. I just want to be...

    Slipping clutch $$$ ?

What do you think? Was quoted $444.00 Seems high to me, but what am I going to do? They did say it looked like normal wear and tare, only a little over 8,000 mi. on it. That's for an '82' 400 Maxim btw.
