Start out with a new battery... Sounds like a cell or two are dead. If that doesn't fix the problem then start looking at the PO's rewire job... Probably not the best idea for him to rewire it but whatever trips his trigger.

Think of it like a 21 speed bike... Big front sprocket and little rear is going to give lower rpm at speed. Little front and big rear is going to be opposite, better acceleration but higher rpm at speed. Going up a tooth or two on the front from stock will lower rpm 500ish at 60.

I've read my oil temp at the sump after a good 50 mile run with temps right at 200-215 with temps outside being around 60 degrees. I've also noticed that if it is windy outside (15-30 mph winds) oil temps can drop by 20 degrees easy.

I'm a certified welder and I would say I wouldn't weld the two together. The only reason why is because the metals have different tinsel strength this making the weld the weakest part instead of the strongest (if welded properly). Ok guys, I'm missing my exhaust flange pieces due to the collars bolts loosening up on their own. My question is how do I go about getting a new one? I have looked a few places and no one can seem to get them. Otherwise is there something I can rig to make it work?

Yea I was able to take the top stopper off and go a "flush" since the seals are not leaking. By the looks of the old vs the new oil I would say it was time haha.

I was reading the manual regarding changing my fork oil and noticed that they want you to disassemble the whole fork... Do you really need to? Also what oil do you recommend? 10w30 motor oil at 4-5 ounces in each tube on a 82 maxim?

On my last fill up I yielded only 45 mpg. The only thing that I can think of is that I used 87 octane instead of 93 like I normally use. I think with the 87 I had to use slightly more throttle to maintain my freeway speed of 75 than I normally do with 93.

The battery acid level, when you take the battery out you will see little "plugs" on the top of the battery, unless you have a maintenance free battery then it will be just flat like a car battery.
