79xs in an 80s frame?

would a 79 xs400 engine fit in this frame? my frame from the previous owner who tried to hard tail is horribly bad front and rear. seen a lot of the original front frames but still would have to buy the hard tail conversions and front. guys willing to lower price but i want yalls input. thanks

All sohc xs360-xs400's 76-82 engines will work. I see that one has no papers for it so you would never be able to put it on the road. Also the price is waaaay too much.

i figured just making sure. i think u can still register it just takes longer... I've registered my truck with no papers took like 2 months. he lowered it to 400 but still

Here in new york you need the last registered owner to do the paper work in order to get one. I would not pay more than $50 for this home made hack job If it had a clean title maybe $150. I would find an other xs400 with a title locally and put a proper hard tail on it. For $400 you should be able to get a runner with a lot of good parts. Travis the moderator of this forum makes the kits for these bike and they are very nice.
