That's a stock filter and air box.
Edit:
I can't figure out if it's supposed to be stock on your bike though. My Haynes manual refers to that style air box as being added on "later machines".
My local shop accidentally ordered me those air filters for my 360, thinking it was the same as all XS400s.

What's the 3 digit VIN prefix for your bike?

The "D" shape goes with 4G5 model - I had the same issue. What I did I just bought a replacement foam and oil for air filters in spray (shell or sth alike). Works ok, although previous owner used some "scrap foam" and I had to tune carbs after replacement.

If it's just an issue of getting the filters, those ones are still available new. Any shop that handles Yamaha bikes should be able to get them.

Hi guys, i am having a new problem on the motorcycle. When i try to set the igniton, i do the gap (0,3 - 0,4) and then when i get on the compression stroke on the LF, no matter how much i turn the plate nothing happens! The light stays lit. I manage to make it work by decreasing the gap to 0,2 or less, but it does not work correctly and it coughs in the exhaust. The right cylinder is worse. Both cylinders fire, but the right one can only work on choke without any gas. I managed to do the timing on the left one somehow, but my father fiddled with it and... destroyed everything... Maybed the cam chain skipped a tooth? is it possible? Or... The valves not adjusted? But it sound pretty good when it works. And starts easily 150 psi on both cylinders and it's 37k miles

A good solution to this problem with light is disconnecting second wire from both ignition coils and then do the ignition setting.
