fuel Tank Compatibility

I have a 1980 xs400sg special. Are other model years Compatible?

I believe the older square tanks are a direct swap but not sure about the tear drop style on the DOHC's.

SOHC xs400 tear drop tank are a direct replacement. The square ones from earlier bikes need the rear mounting bolt relocated. Also bikes with the tear drop tank, the seats will have a gap between them if you swap to a square tank.
